Much attention has been payed over the weekend to an interview on Fox News Channel in which GOP candidate Congressman Ron Paul sidesteps a question from
Juan Williams about whether or not he will seek to run as a third party candidate if he does not the the GOP nomination.
This interview prompted conservative talk show host Mark Levin to dedicate an entire hour of his nationally syndicated show to discuss the idea of a third party run for Ron Paul.
And he continues...
Let's consider the argument that a vote for a third party is a vote for the current administration. Operating on the assumption that the GOP nominee will be Mitt Romney, how far removed from the policies of the current administration would a Mitt Romney presidency be? It could also be said that a vote for Romney is a vote for the same establishment that owns and operates Obama.
In the event that Romney is the nominee, anyone who claims to be a champion of conservatism should pray for a third a party candidate to send a clear message to the establishment. If we are so gullible and naive that we will elect a known RINO with absolutely no conservative credentials, we deserve another Obama presidency. So what if Mitt Romney can run a business...he can give a good speech...he can debate policy positions and come out on top, but he has a long history of big government nonsense trailing closely behind him. We cannot afford another RINO anymore than we can afford another Obama presidency.
